Arnold S. Hoffman
Mr. Hoffman is a Senior Managing Director of Legg Mason Walker, Inc., a financial services and brokerage firm where he serves on the firms' Private Placement Committee. Prior to joining Legg Mason, Mr. Hoffman was Chairman of The Middle Market Group, and investment bank affiliated with Shearson Lehman Brothers Inc., specializing in merger, acquisition and divestiture activities and the placement of debt and equity to the private market. Mr. Hoffman was a Managing Director of Shearson Lehman Hutton Inc. where he founded and was responsible for the firm’s middle market investment banking group. From 1957 through 1961, he was employed by Westinghouse Electric Corporation in their Consumer Products Division. In 1961, Mr. Hoffman became an officer of a private company with manufactured ground support equipment for the military and was made President of the company shortly before it was merged into the Union Corporation (NYSE) in 1968. Mr. Hoffman has lectured extensively on mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures at The Presidents Association of the American Management Association, The Association for Corporate Growth, the Financial Executives Institute and The Practicing Law Institute. He also taught a course in mergers and acquisitions at The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania for several years. In 1984, Mr. Hoffman authored a chapter on the divestiture process for a book entitled “How to Raise Capital”, published by Dow Jones Irwin Press. Mr. Hoffman received a B.A. from The Pennsylvania State University. He is a director of Computer Corporation of America, Alamo Corporation and S.R. Smith.
